Heartfelt Greetings From
ALPHA CHI’s Chapter President

On behalf of the distinguished women of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Alpha Chi Chapter, I extend warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation for you. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Chapter President and to continue the legacy of excellence, leadership, and service that has defined Alpha Chi for decades.

Founded in 1929 by our visionary Founder, Lola Mercedes Parker, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. was established as the first African American business sorority, dedicated to empowering women in business, industry, and community leadership. Since its inception, Iota has grown into a national sisterhood committed to promoting education, entrepreneurship, career development, and civic responsibility.

The Alpha Chi Chapter proudly carries this torch of leadership in the Hampton Roads community. Our chapter has consistently advanced programs and initiatives that uplift, educate, and empower. From mentoring youth through our Future Iota Leaders (FIL) program, to supporting small business development, to engaging in impactful community service, we are intentional about making a difference.

As we embark on a new program year, our mission remains clear: to uphold the values of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Leadership. The Executive Committee and I are committed to working with purpose and passion, ensuring that Alpha Chi continues to grow in strength while remaining firmly rooted in our founding principles.

I invite you to explore our website, learn about our initiatives, and join us in our journey of service and empowerment. Together, we can continue to impact lives, inspire future generations, and carry forward the vision of our beloved Founder.

Individually distinctive, together unstoppable!

Our History

It was on February 22, 1946, under the visionary leadership of Mrs. Nona B. Diggs, Alpha Chi Chapter was organized by calling together six energetic ladies who, like herself, were interested in embracing the aims and ideals of this prestigious business and professional organization, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.
